Homemade paw care balm - with natural ingredients - beeswax & honey

Preparation time: 60 min - Difficulty level: easy

Ingredients for about 150g balm:
- 20 g beeswax
- 35 g pure shea butter
- 35 g coconut oil
- 35 g olive oil
- 1 teaspoon honey
- 3 drops vitamin E oil
- 5 drops propolis tincture (bee resin) has an antibacterial effect, promotes wound healing
- ointment jars or small screw-top jars

Whether it's snow, ice and road salt in winter or hot asphalt or sand in summer, your dog's paws are often stressed and the pads can become dry, rough and cracked.

This rich paw balm nourishes and protects the skin like a protective film and has a wound-healing effect even on small cracks.

The oils and fats keep it supple and beeswax has a protective effect.

Preparation:

Slowly heat all ingredients except for shea butter, vitamin E and propolis in a heat-resistant glass in a bain-marie, stirring constantly until the wax has melted. Be careful - the water must not boil.

Remove the glass from the water, melt the shea butter in it and continue stirring until a homogeneous mass is formed.

Finally, add the vitamin E and propolis. Test the consistency by pouring a few drops onto a cold plate. If it is too solid, add a little more olive oil - if it is too liquid, add a few more beeswax pastilles.

Now you can pour the mixture into jars and leave to cool without the lid; depending on the size, this can be done quickly. It is best to label them with the date.

Application:

You can use the paw balm before and after a walk with your four-legged friend. Apply a small amount of the balm to your dog's paws and massage it in gently. It has both a protective and nourishing effect.

About the ingredients:

Beeswax forms a protective film on the skin against cold, moisture, salt and heated ground. It is also helpful for the consistency of the care balm.

Pure shea butter is extracted from the nuts of the African karite tree and has a strong moisturizing effect, which helps the skin to heal itself and also has a soothing effect.

Coconut oil, on the other hand, is absorbed very quickly and deeply into the skin, providing an extra portion of care right down to the lower layers of the skin.

Olive oil has a warming and therefore circulation-promoting effect on the skin, it stays on the surface for a long time and is particularly suitable for rough bales.

Bee putty resin has an antibacterial effect, which has an anti-inflammatory and analgesic effect on cracks or minor injuries and promotes wound healing.

Vitamin E helps to preserve the oil as it delays rancidity.

It is best stored in a cool place away from light for at least 1 year, provided it is used cleanly.
