Summer wild mother tinctures - linden blossoms - hawthorn - wild mallow

How to make it:

You will need a screw-top jar with lid and 1-2 dark pipette vials for each tincture, depending on the amount you want to make, and 40-70% alcohol.

We use vodka because it has little flavor of its own. You can also mix grain with spirit of wine.

For the lime blossom tincture, pluck the yellow blossoms and chop the elongated light green leaves and put them in a screw-top jar, to just below the rim, then fill with the alcohol until all the blossoms are covered.

Cut hawthorn leaves into small pieces, possibly add blossoms or if you only collect in late summer/fall, you can add the berries and crush them slightly in a mortar beforehand.

For the mallow tincture, pluck only the fine purple flowers and fill them in the jar with alcohol.

Place your jars for 4-6 weeks in a warm and bright place, but not in direct sunlight, so that the valuable ingredients are preserved.

Now shake the jars once a day to loosen the ingredients and prevent mold from forming.

After about 4 weeks you can strain the tinctures through tea or coffee filters and fill them into the dark drip bottles.

It is best to date them and store them in the refrigerator. The tinctures can be kept for at least 1 year.
