Prep time: 60 minutes• Difficulty: easy

- 100 ml olive oil
- 3 drops vitamin E oil
- Ointment jars or small screw-top jars
- Cotton cloth for straining
Daisies (Bellis perennis) – small, unassuming, and full of healing power!
They can do much more than what many people know from the popular game of plucking petals: “He loves me—he loves me not.”
It’s a true sun-worshipper, always turning its little head toward the sun and closing it in bad weather or moonlight.
It’s very resilient, hardy, and even survives the lawnmower—it simply springs back up.
In personal care, we use it to treat rough and sore skin. It soothes pain and promotes healing for scrapes, insect bites, and cuts.
It nourishes the lips, keeping them supple thanks to the olive oil and protected by the beeswax.
Vitamin E oil helps preserve the olive oil base and also provides additional skin protection.
Pick the small flowers on a dry morning.
For the hot infusion, place the daisy flower heads and olive oil in a sterile, heat-resistant container and warm in a water bath to a maximum of 60 degrees.
Now let the flowers steep for about 1 hour while maintaining a constant temperature.
Strain the flower heads through a cotton cloth over a sterile container and squeeze them well. Return the oil to the water bath and add the beeswax pellets.
Melt the wax while stirring constantly, remove the container from the water bath, add the vitamin E, and continue stirring until the ointment begins to set.
Add a little more wax if necessary.
Pour the ointment into sterile jars or cream pots, let it cool completely, and seal tightly. It’s best to label them with the date.
Store in a cool place away from light. If prepared and used properly, the ointment will keep for at least 1 year.
Usage: Apply a thin layer to the affected areas of skin as needed.
