General information abour Guarana:
The guarana plant belongs to the Sapindaceae family and is a ligneous (woody) bush native to the Amazon basin. The ripe fruit are orange and look much like coffee beans. They spill out small greenish-black seeds, about 12 mm in size, which are shelled and dried, then ground into a fine light brown powder. Nowadays, guarana is grown as a climbing plant on plantations in Brazil, Paraguay and Venezuela.
Like coffee, guarana is a known stimulant and energy booster, but due to its tart or even bitter taste, it should be mixed into other drinks as opposed to taken pure.
