Organic psyllium husks from the Aspermuehle:
Our organic psyllium husks are monitored and certified by the German organic inspection body ABCERT/DE-ÖKO-006 (organic certificate).
As psyllium husks come from India, organic certification is of course a great advantage, as it ensures that the local environment is not polluted and that there are no residues in the form of pesticides in the product.
Psyllium husks - pure dietary fiber:
Psyllium husks consist almost entirely of dietary fiber. They are therefore able to bind a lot of water, swell up and form mucilage.
This has several positive effects.
On the one hand, they swell up in the stomach and significantly increase the volume of ingested food, which makes you feel full more quickly. As dietary fibres hardly provide any energy, the total number of calories in the ingested food in relation to the total volume is reduced at the same time.
Taken with sufficient water, psyllium husks therefore stimulate intestinal activity due to their dietary fibre content. With little liquid, however, they can also have the opposite effect.
Also rich in fiber: Organic barley grass powder > and organic barley grass tablets >.
Indian plantain (psyllium)
99% purity - Highest degree of purity for psyllium husks:
After harvesting, the husks are separated from the psyllium seeds and cleaned. Any remaining seeds and other plant parts are sorted out. This is much more complicated than with other products due to the lightness of the husks. A purity of 99% is therefore the highest level that can be achieved here.
Cheap psyllium husks through direct import:
Psyllium husks are mainly grown for commercial purposes in India, Pakistan or Iran. We import directly from India without intermediaries and can therefore keep prices low for you and offer high-quality products at a reasonable price.
Delivery, minimum shelf life and use of psyllium husks:
The delivery is of course light-protected and environmentally friendly. The packaging consists of a plastic-free double-wall paper bag, with paper from sustainable production. This means that both the cultivation and the packaging meet the highest ecological standards.
Shelf life:
We guarantee a minimum shelf life of 3 years.
However, if stored correctly (dry, protected from light, tightly sealed), psyllium husks can be kept for longer due to their nature.
Application:
Psyllium husks can be used in a variety of ways, especially in the kitchen.
On the one hand, they can easily be added to muesli, yoghurts or smoothies, and on the other, they are ideal for increasing the fibre content of breads or cakes.
But they also cut a fine figure as a thickening agent, for example in sauces.

Field with Indian sand plantain plants (psyllium)
Psyllium husks for animals too:
But psyllium husks are not only beneficial for humans. Your animals can also benefit from them. They are used particularly frequently in horses.
As horses often ingest sand when eating and this settles in the digestive tract, they can easily develop sand colic.
This can be counteracted with psyllium husks. When added to the feed, the increased volume of the husks ensures that the sand leaves the digestive tract again. Of course, care must be taken to ensure that the horse drinks enough.
General information about psyllium husks:
Psyllium seeds are the seeds of the Indian sand plantain. As the name of the plant suggests, the plant can cope with very little water and therefore also grows in dry regions.
The seeds have been used in Indian medicine for a long time. In Europe, they are valued above all for their very high fiber content and high swelling capacity. Psyllium seeds can bind many times their own weight in water, swell up and form mucilage. Whole psyllium seeds have a swelling value of between 11 and 15 g. This means that 1 g of seeds absorbs between 11 g and 15 g of water. Psyllium husks have a much higher fiber content and therefore a much higher swelling value. It is at least 40.
